When the Rain Soaks Through

It’s easy to praise God when things are amazing, and why not? It is important for us to praise God when he blesses us, and to be thankful.

In Philippians 4:4 it says,”Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say rejoice.” Worshiping God is repeated twice, emphasizing the importance of praise and thanksgiving.

It’s just easier to praise him that way. How interesting, it is then, how quickly some people turn to blame him when devastation strikes, or when you’ve had a bad day. You can’t glorify him one moment, and accuse him the next.

For one thing, it is important to recognize is that it is NEVER God who brings destruction. Never. Know that any pain in your life is always the Devil’s doing, that way you can’t blame God.

As in John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. But I have come that you may have life and have it abundantly.”

When you doubt that simple truth about God, reread John chapter 10, describing God as a good shepherd who cares for us. Because God cares, he would never inflict hurt. We know only the devil is capable of that.

But then, “Why didn’t God prevent that tragedy?”. It’s a very valid question. If God has all power, why not prevent a tragedy? Well I don’t believe it’s Gods will to not help us. I feel like God is like an umbrella. When we stay true to him and faithful, the umbrella protects us from the rain. But when we give ourselves to temptations, rudeness, or any type of sin, when we lose sight of God, we close the umbrella, and we get drenched by the out pour. Since the beginning God gave man free will, and it was their choices that took them out of God’s blessing. Adam and Eve chose to eat of the apple, losing Gods blessing.
We aren’t perfect, and we will never be. Only one man on earth was ever perfect and he’s standing beside his father in heaven. We will always make mistakes and lose our way, and get drenched by the rain. But know that throughout the rain and the sun that it is God’s will for us to embrace his blessing, and our will that allows bad things to happen. So when we get drenched by the rain, we are called to praise God.
